Round Bay

Trial run today to make sure everything is working, especially the skipper and mate. So far so good. Short sail for lunch and swim at anchor in Round Bay, as a dry run for our impending visitors. Delightful day, deflated somewhat by faulty valve on the dinghy. What a waste of effort pumping all that air in only to listen to a dinghy-full whistle back out.

First evening

Having arrived at 02:00 this morning we slept moderately late before a busy day. The usual 'shake-down' pottering about uncovered a gas ring not working, a water pump that was expiring, childproof netting that hadn't been fitted, and endless other odds and ends. A walk to Gocek sorted the internet access - hence the blog - while Nigel sorted the rest. (The one aspect of life where we have 'a man' to do things.) The end result might have been more pleasing if the mounting screws for the new pump hadn't protruded through a bulkhead and rendered the galley knife drawer inoperable. The lime had to be cut with with a very sharp sailor's knife of dubious hygienic standard. (That might refer to both knife and sailor.)
